How to Check Your Summer EBT Balance

If you receive Summer EBT benefits (also known as SUN Bucks), you'll want to know when your money arrives and how much you have left to spend. The good news is that checking your balance is simple. Here are several easy ways to do it.

What is Summer EBT?

Summer EBT is a program that helps families buy food for their children during the summer months. If you qualify and live in a state that participates, you'll receive $120 per child. However, if you live in Hawaii, you'll get $189 per child, and most U.S. territories receive $180 per child.

Ways to Check Your Summer EBT Balance

1. Use the Propel App

Propel is a free phone app that makes it easy to track your Summer EBT balance. Here's how to get started:
  • Download the Propel app on your phone
  • Create an account using your regular EBT card or your Summer EBT card
  • If using a Summer EBT card, select "Summer EBT card" from the menu

What you can do with Propel:

  • Check your Summer EBT balance instantly
  • View information in English or Spanish
  • See your purchase history from the past two years
  • Find nearby stores that accept EBT
  • Access special deals on groceries, internet plans, insurance, and more

Already use Propel? If your state sends Summer EBT to your regular EBT card or a Summer EBT card you've already linked, you don't need to do anything extra. Your balance will show up automatically when it arrives.

2. Use Other Mobile Apps

Other apps like ebtEDGE, Connect EBT, or state-specific apps (like Your Texas Benefits) will also show your Summer EBT deposit. You can usually tell it's your Summer EBT money by looking at the deposit amount ($120 per child in most states).

3. Check Online

Most states let you check your balance online. The two most common sites are:

  • ebtEDGE.com
  • ConnectEBT.com

Simply log in to see your current balance.

4. Call the Phone Number on Your Card

Look at the back of your EBT or Summer EBT card for a toll-free customer service number. When you call:

  • Have your card number ready
  • Know your PIN
  • Follow the instructions to hear your balance

Safety tip: Make sure you're in a private place when you call to protect your benefits from theft.

5. Check Your Store Receipts

Every time you make a purchase with your EBT card, your remaining balance prints on the receipt. It's a good idea to save your receipts so you can keep track of your spending and remember which stores you've visited.

Important: If your Summer EBT money is loaded onto your regular SNAP card, the system will use your Summer EBT funds first because they expire sooner than regular SNAP benefits.

By using one of these methods, you can easily stay on top of your Summer EBT balance and make sure you're getting the most out of your benefits.
